WINTER BREATHES UPON US

THE COLD WIND BLOWS!

IN FOCUS

Mohamad "Mo" H. has developed a close friendship with Luciano N. through the Light of Hope program. They both enjoy karaoke, field trips to museums—especially Mo's favorite, the USS Iowa—and indulging in delicious milkshakes at Cronies. Mo shares a strong bond with his Support Guide, Diego, and appreciates the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the entire staff and fellow participants. The LOH program has been a wonderful retreat for him, allowing him to enjoy some late nights since it starts at 9:00 a.m.

FACING THE LIGHT OF HOPE

The New Year, January 2026, has arrived! With it comes an invigorating energy that motivates us to make new plans for our future; plans to start over with a clean slate that will now be filled with positive goals for growth and good physical, mental, and spiritual health. It is a time for setting the stage to take an active part in life, to make things happen, to trim off old destructive attitudes and habits, to cultivate forgiveness for ourselves and others, stepping forward into a brighter future, guided by the Light of Hope!

THE BEAUTIFUL WINTER SKY

Winter evening skies often feature deep blues, indigos, and purple, especially after sunset, blending with softer hues like pale blues, pink, and lavenders, sometimes with golden or orange glows near the horizon from fading sunlight, all against a backdrop of crisp, clean air and often snow-dusted landscapes, highlighting brilliant stars like Rigel, one of the brightest stars in the sky, or constellations like Orion the Hunter.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

"Be A Star of Light!"

Hannah F., one of the inaugural participants of LOH, showcased her talent with a captivating solo dance in our Christmas production. With charm, she spreaded her angel wings and gracefully glided across the stage to the beautiful melody of "Mary Did You Know."

"Where dreams come alive and spirits shine like stars!"              Gwendolyn Trudo

WINTER'S ARTIST
(An Excerpt)

"An awesome scene the artist paints, expert and deft his hand.

Brush strokes swift, he draws with ease. a winter wonderland.

Landscape sketched from memory, heavens and land entwine

Rapidly the scene is set, exquisitely divine."

"There is no end to education... It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life... is an education."

                                            Jiddu Krishnamurti

A FUN CHRISTMAS ACTIVITY

Support Guide, Michelle L., is available for assistance as Ruby L. and other Light of Hope participants make gingerbread houses for Christmas.

LOVE OVERFLOWS

Field Supervisor, Tanya D. encourages LOH participant, Luciano N., to embrace his creative ideas. In the home economics class, the assigment was to make pillows, but Luciano thought a cap was a better choice. With a few tweaks still left to make on his invention, we believe Luciano's cap will be a success!

Here at Light of Hope, with loving kindness, we motivate our participants in thinking outside the box and assist them in new and different ideas. Inventions are made of such!

PERFORMING ARTS FOR CHRISTMAS!

Participants of the Light of Hope showcased their 3rd Annual Christmas program beautifully in front of families and friends. After eight months of diligent rehearsals, their hard work culminated in a joyful presentation that truly paid off!

We would like to thank former employee, Nancy Hamilton-Myers for volunteering to take video and photos for the production!

THIS MONTH IN JANUARY - 2026

January 1st kicks off the beginning of the New Year, 2026. It is the time when we make resolutions and pray we have the discipline to follow through! May we be diligent in all things.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day - January 19th

Dr MLK JR 2.JPEG

"...everybody can be
great, because everybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb to agree to serve...You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant."

On this day, January 19th, we commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this great leader, who dedicated his existence to upholding justice and equality for all people. His fight was long and filled with many harsh challenges but he never gave up. Dr. King's legacy will be remembered for all times.

Canterbury Tales

With twenty-four short stories under one cover, "Canterbury Tales" offers some incredibly pleasant reads to enjoy while the winter weather creates a comfortable atmosphere for relaxation.

Poet, Geoffrey Chaucer, created a master piece, which is still celebrated today, in this tale of a group of pilgrims traveling to the shrine  of St. Thomas Becket in Canterbury. As they journey, they engage in a contest of storytelling.

With great imagery and humor, you are invited to step back in time and enjoy the voices of a long gone era!
