"Thanksgiving reminds us that no matter what befalls us in life, we can take the charred remnants, and we can reconstruct a life unimaginable richer than that from which the shards and pieces fell."

Michael S. finds much enjoyment from the Light of Hope program. One of his favorite activities is volunteering at Shemesh Farms in Malibu where he gets to participates in gardening, which he loves. QUOTE OF THE MONTH
"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love - then make that day count!"
Steve Marabolir
WHAT'S HAPPENED
La BREA TAR PITS and MUSEUM

When taking a trip to La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in Los Angeles, participants and staff at Light of Hope entered a gateway to the Ice Age! There they saw the fossils and exhibits of ancient creatures that roamed the earth during that time. The minds, ears and eyes of all were fully engaged in this life size experience!
"For over a century, researchers at La Brea Tar Pits have unearthed and studied the remains of millions of plants and animals. The resulting collection of fossils, from the gigantic mammoths to small micro fossils of insects and tiny plants, is the world’s most complete record of what life was like at the end of the Ice Age - between about 50,000 and 10,000 years ago - a time both foreign and familiar to our own."
(Quote from La Brea Tar Pits and Museum Website)
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
(By Robert Frost)

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I ---
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Some Light of Hope participants have started attending S.U.R.F. (Service-Unity-Responsibility-Faith) on Mondays.
LUNCH at GEOFFREY'S - MALIBU

"A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal." Steve Maraboli
There are many kind people in this world and Jeff Peterson and his staff at Geoffrey's Malibu are among them. Light of Hope participants were generously extended an invitation to dine there for lunch. Seeing the peace and joy on the faces of those who were present was heartwarming.
Light of Hope participants and staff take advantage of the beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean while enjoying a delicious lunch!
The Naslund & Naslund Foundation Light of Hope Program is so very thankful for the thoughtfulness of Jeff Peterson and his staff at Geoffrey's Malibu.
